Syllable counts come from vowel tokens; CMUdict does not supply syllable boundaries here. Variant order follows the dictionary and does not rank correctness. This lexicon does not represent every accent or context.

## Use finance in context

Business podcasts, bank ads and explainer videos use finance constantly, both as a noun and a verb. CMUdict lists two forms with stress on the second syllable and a reduced first vowel, plus one with stress on "FY". Choosing one, especially across a long series, keeps the delivery steady.

1. She moved from marketing into finance last year.
2. The company plans to finance the expansion with savings.

### A practice cue

Decide whether the stress falls on the first or second syllable, then use that pattern everywhere. Read a sentence that uses it as a verb to confirm the choice still sounds natural.

Each example word below is a cue for the named sound, rather than a respelling of finance. Unstressed vowels may sound reduced. These cues follow the [CMU phoneme-set key (Appendix A)](https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~aria/Papers/MastersThesis.pdf#page=115).
