Syllable counts come from vowel tokens; CMUdict does not supply syllable boundaries here. Variant order follows the dictionary and does not rank correctness. This lexicon does not represent every accent or context.

## Use forte in context

Forte can refer to a person's particular strength and also appears as a musical direction. Those uses deserve their own context and pronunciation reference, since a voice may handle them differently. Narration should state whether it is discussing ability or instructing a musical performance before relying on the word.

1. Detailed character work is her forte.
2. The score marks the entrance forte to contrast with the earlier passage.

### A practice cue

Audition forte in the exact sense used by your script and compare the relevant reference. If the project includes both personal strengths and score directions, review those passages separately and make a deliberate consistency choice within each context.

## Read the sound tokens

Each example word below is a cue for the named sound, rather than a respelling of forte. Unstressed vowels may sound reduced. These cues follow the [CMU phoneme-set key (Appendix A)](https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~aria/Papers/MastersThesis.pdf#page=115).
