## Use larynx in context

Larynx appears in anatomy lessons, singing tutorials and medical narration, usually close to pharynx. Many speakers flip the last sounds and say "larnix", moving the n ahead of the vowel. CMUdict keeps the order of the spelling: r, then a short i, then "nks".

1. The larynx sits just above the windpipe and holds the vocal folds.
2. Our voice coach drew a diagram of the larynx on the whiteboard.

### A practice cue

Split it as LAIR and "inks", like the word inks, before joining them. Pair it with pharynx in one breath, since both share the same ending.

## Read the sound tokens

Each example word below is a cue for the named sound, rather than a respelling of larynx. Unstressed vowels may sound reduced. These cues follow the [CMU phoneme-set key (Appendix A)](https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~aria/Papers/MastersThesis.pdf#page=115).
