Syllable counts come from vowel tokens; CMUdict does not supply syllable boundaries here. Variant order follows the dictionary and does not rank correctness. This lexicon does not represent every accent or context.

## Use statistics in context

Statistics can refer to numerical information or to the field that studies how data are collected and analyzed. Reports and educational narration may use both senses within a single project. The reading should identify the figures, methods, or subject being discussed instead of treating every use as a list of numbers.

1. The statistics course begins with a discussion of sampling.
2. The report includes statistics on how residents use the library.

### A practice cue

Audition statistics beside the actual figures or course topic in your script. Check repeated phrases such as official statistics or descriptive statistics for consistency, and leave enough space around numerical details for the listener to understand what they measure.

## Read the sound tokens

Each example word below is a cue for the named sound, rather than a respelling of statistics. Unstressed vowels may sound reduced. These cues follow the [CMU phoneme-set key (Appendix A)](https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~aria/Papers/MastersThesis.pdf#page=115).

TAKE IT TO YOUR NEXT RECORDING

## Make an audition worksheet

Select a dictionary variant for your checklist. The two original sentences retain their normal spelling; this worksheet helps you review a recording rather than forcing a speech engine to use phonemes.

Copying and downloading happen in your browser. No script upload or audio generation is needed.
