Make Voiceovers on Your Intel Mac

If you have an Intel MacBook, iMac or Mac mini, a lot of newer voice apps have quietly left you out. Murmur now works on Intel Macs, so you can make voiceovers on the computer you already have.

What you can make

• Narration for YouTube videos and short reels.
• Voiceovers for slideshows, lessons and product demos.
• Audio versions of articles, notes or chapters to listen to later.
• Clips in your own voice, once you record a short sample.

Get started in a few minutes

1. Download Murmur from murmurtts.com. The site gives you the Intel version automatically.
2. Drag Murmur into your Applications folder and open it.
3. Pick a voice and type or paste your script.
4. Click Generate, listen, and export the audio when you like it.

Tips for a better result

• Write the way you talk. Short sentences sound more natural.
• Listen to a few voices before you pick one. The free Kokoro voices are a great place to start.
• To use your own voice, read the sample aloud for about 15 seconds in a quiet room.
• Long scripts? Split them into parts in a project so you can fix one part without redoing the rest.

Before you start

Your Mac needs macOS 15 or later. Some of the bigger Pro voices also need 16 GB of memory. The free voices run on any Mac that can run Murmur.

Everything happens on your Mac. Your scripts and recordings stay with you, and once a voice is downloaded you can work offline.
