Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Murmur, a macOS text-to-speech application. By purchasing or using Murmur, you agree to these terms.
1. License Grant
Upon purchase, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Murmur on your Mac computers. This is a one-time purchase that grants you perpetual access to the version you purchased, including updates.
2. Acceptable Use
You may use Murmur to:
- Generate speech from your own text for personal or commercial projects
- Use generated audio in videos, podcasts, courses, audiobooks, and other content
- Install Murmur on multiple Macs you personally own and use
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense Murmur or your license key
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the application
- Share your license key with others
- Use Murmur to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
3. Payments and Billing
All payments are processed by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. By purchasing Murmur, you also agree to Dodo Payments' Buyer Terms. Dodo Payments handles all billing, receipts, and payment-related inquiries.
4. Refunds
We offer a 7-day refund policy from the date of purchase. See our Refund Policy for full details. Refunds are processed through Dodo Payments.
5. Intellectual Property
Murmur, including its code, design, and bundled models, is the intellectual property of Murmur and its creator. The Kokoro TTS model is used under its respective open-source license. Audio you generate with Murmur is yours to use as you see fit, subject to these terms.
6. Local Processing
Murmur runs entirely on your Mac. Text-to-speech generation happens locally using your hardware. No text or audio data is sent to external servers during generation. The only network requests Murmur makes are for license validation and checking for updates.
7. System Requirements
Murmur requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Performance depends on your hardware. We do not guarantee specific generation speeds or output quality across all hardware configurations.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Murmur is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the application will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements. Text-to-speech output quality may vary depending on input text, voice selection, and hardware.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Murmur. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product.
10. Termination
Your license remains valid as long as you comply with these terms. We reserve the right to revoke licenses in cases of abuse, fraud, or violation of these terms. If your license is revoked for cause, you are not entitled to a refund.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Murmur after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
