1. License Grant
One purchase. One license for one Mac.
Upon purchase, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Murmur on one Mac at a time. Your license may not be shared with or transferred to another person. Your purchase includes perpetual access to the version you buy and free updates for that version. Future versions and upgrades are not guaranteed.
The individual license covers one active Mac; a Mac bundle covers the number purchased. To move to another Mac, the previous activation must be released. Contact support if you need help changing Macs.
2. Acceptable Use
You may use Murmur to:
- Generate speech from your own text for personal or commercial projects, subject to the applicable model licenses and rights of others
- Use generated audio in videos, podcasts, courses, audiobooks, and other content
- Use your license on one Mac at a time
You may not:
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense Murmur or your license key
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the application
- Share your license key with others
- Use Murmur to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or violates the rights of others
3. Payments and Billing
All payments are processed by Polar Software, Inc., our merchant of record. By purchasing Murmur, you also agree to Polar's Terms of Service. Polar handles all billing, receipts, and payment-related inquiries. Legacy purchases made through Gumroad or other past providers remain valid.
4. Refunds
We offer a 7-day refund policy from the date of purchase. See our Refund Policy for full details. Refunds are processed through the payment provider you used at checkout.
5. Intellectual Property
Murmur's application code and design are the intellectual property of Murmur and its creator. Third-party models and components remain subject to their respective licenses. You may use the audio you generate subject to these terms, the applicable model licenses, and the rights of others.
6. Local Processing
Text-to-speech generation runs locally on your Mac; your scripts and audio are not uploaded to a cloud service for generation.
Speech generation can run locally after setup, but periodic online license validation is still required.
Internet access is used for license activation and periodic validation, app updates, model/runtime downloads, community voice browsing and downloads, and app diagnostics and product telemetry. See our Privacy Policy for details about license data, online features, diagnostics, and usage events.
7. System Requirements
macOS 15 or later on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not supported.
Kokoro is bundled for basic text-to-speech. Optional models for cloning, Voice Design, and other speech features require at least 16 GB of unified memory and additional model/runtime downloads. For example, the app estimates about 1.7 GB for Qwen3-TTS Base and 2.3–4.5 GB for Voice Design, depending on the variant. These are model downloads, not total installation sizes: allow additional free space for runtimes, setup, and generated audio. Total disk space needs and generation speed vary by model and your Mac.
Performance depends on your hardware. We do not guarantee specific generation speeds or output quality across all hardware configurations.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Murmur is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the application will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements. Text-to-speech output quality may vary depending on input text, voice selection, and hardware.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Murmur. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product.
10. Termination
Your license remains valid as long as you comply with these terms. We reserve the right to revoke licenses in cases of abuse, fraud, or violation of these terms. If your license is revoked for cause, you are not entitled to a refund.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Murmur after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
