Windows beta
A local voice studio for your PC
Type a script, choose a voice, and export WAV. Murmur runs the speech models on your own Windows computer, so your work is not uploaded to a cloud voice service.

text to speech for Windows

- Kokoro bundled and offline
- Voice cloning and Voice Design
- WAV export
01 · Context
Murmur on Windows, in plain terms
Murmur is a desktop app that turns text into speech. On Windows it uses the same local models as the Mac app, with a Windows interface built for a single script at a time. You paste text, pick a model and voice, press Generate, then export the result as a WAV file.
The Windows build is a beta. The core workflow works, including Kokoro offline from the installer and the optional Pro models, but it is earlier than the Mac app. This page lists what is ready and what is still missing so you can decide whether the beta fits your work.

What works in the Windows beta
Kokoro, included and offline
Kokoro is bundled with the installer and works from the first launch without a model download. It covers basic narration in nine languages with 54 built-in voices.
Voice cloning
Chatterbox Turbo, Chatterbox Multilingual, Qwen3-TTS Base, SparkTTS, Breeze TTS 2, and OmniVoice can clone from a reference clip. Some models also ask for a transcript of that clip.
Voice Design
Qwen3-TTS Voice Design and Breeze TTS 2 can create a voice from a written description. The model downloads once, then runs on your PC.
Pro models on CPU or NVIDIA GPU
Optional models install their own Python runtime and model weights. Murmur uses an NVIDIA GPU when one is available and falls back to the CPU when it is not. The CPU path is slower, especially for Breeze TTS 2 and Voice Design.
WAV export
Generate a clip, play it in the app, and save it as a WAV file for your editor or publishing workflow.
Free plan and Pro trial
The free plan includes Kokoro and short scripts. You can start a 3-day Pro trial inside the app to test cloning, Voice Design, and the optional models.

What is not in the Windows beta yet
These features exist in the Mac app but are not part of the Windows beta. They are listed here so the comparison is clear before you buy.
Projects, timeline, and batch queue
Windows has a single-script composer. It does not have the Mac app's multi-speaker projects, timeline editing, or batch queue.
Community voice browsing
The Windows app uses its built-in voices and your own reference clips. It does not browse or download the community voice library.
CLI and MCP automation
The murmur command line tool and MCP server are Mac features. The Windows beta does not expose them.
Jamf and MDM deployment
Managed Mac deployment does not apply to Windows. There is no Windows MDM package yet.
M4A export
Windows exports WAV only. The Mac app exports WAV and M4A.
Automatic updates
The Windows beta does not update itself yet. Download a newer installer from this page when one is available.
Fish Audio S2 Pro
Fish S2 Pro is marked Coming soon on Windows. The Mac app runs it through a native engine that does not have a tested Windows build yet.

How to install Murmur on Windows
If Windows blocks the file without showing More info, right-click the installer, open Properties, and check that it is not marked as blocked. Then try again.
05 · Context
Licence and price on Windows
Murmur Pro is $49 once. It is not a subscription and there is no per-word meter. The same licence key works on Mac or Windows, and one licence covers one active computer at a time.
If you want Murmur on a Mac and a PC, you need one licence for each computer, or a team licence for the number of computers you use. Team licences share one key across the seats you buy.
Every purchase includes a 7-day refund window. If the Windows beta does not fit your work, email your receipt within 7 days to request a refund.

Windows requirements
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit |

Windows and Mac: what is the same
Both versions share the same one-time price, the same licence key system, the same Kokoro model, and the same local generation model. Both can clone a voice from a reference clip, design a voice from a description with a compatible model, and export WAV.
The Mac app is the fuller production tool. It adds projects, a batch queue, community voice browsing, M4A export, CLI and MCP automation, and managed deployment. If those are central to your work, use the Mac app. If you mainly need a fast local script-to-WAV workflow on a PC, the Windows beta covers it.
