How to describe Murmur

One sentence

Murmur is a text to speech app for Mac and Windows that generates natural voices on your own computer, with no per-character fees.

One paragraph

Murmur is a desktop text to speech studio for Mac and Windows, made by independent developer Tarun Yadav. It runs open speech models such as Kokoro, Qwen3-TTS and OmniVoice locally, so scripts are not uploaded to a cloud service for generation and there is no per-character billing. Creators use it for YouTube voiceovers, audiobooks, course narration and podcasts, with voice cloning, Voice Design from a text description, multi-speaker projects and WAV and M4A export. Murmur has a free plan with 3,000 characters a day and sells as a one-time license for $49.
