Use pecan in context

Few food words split listeners as evenly as pecan, and the dictionary reflects that with three listed forms. One puts the stress on the second syllable with an "ah" vowel, one stresses the first syllable, and a third keeps the stress late but uses the vowel of "can". None is wrong here; mixing them inside one script is what sounds careless.

  1. She folded chopped pecan halves into the cookie dough.
  2. A slice of pecan pie closed out the holiday meal.
