Use tenet in context

Tenet names a principle or belief held by a person, group, or system of thought. It appears in philosophy lessons, organizational descriptions, and discussions of political ideas. Narration should identify whose principle is being described and state the belief itself, rather than leaving the abstract label to carry the explanation.

  1. A central tenet of the course is that examples should be examined carefully.
  2. The charter expresses a tenet shared by the founding members.
