How to calculate audiobook speed
Listening time = original duration ÷ playback speed. A 10-hour book at 1.25x takes 8 hours; at 2x, it takes 5 hours. Enter a book’s remaining duration to use this as a time-left calculator.

Audiobook listening time, explained.
How do you calculate audiobook listening time?
Divide the original audiobook duration by the playback speed. A 10-hour audiobook at 1.5x takes 6 hours, 40 minutes. This assumes continuous playback without breaks or skipped sections.
How much time does 2x speed save?
At 2x speed, listening takes half the original duration, saving 50% of the time. A 10-hour audiobook takes 5 hours. At 1.5x, the same book takes 6 hours, 40 minutes and saves 3 hours, 20 minutes.
Can I calculate how long I have left?
Yes. Enter the remaining duration shown at normal 1x speed instead of the full book length. If your player already adjusts its remaining-time display for playback speed, do not divide that adjusted time again.
Does this work for podcasts, lectures, and videos?
Yes. The same duration divided by speed formula works for any recording. This tool calculates time; it does not change or play your audio file.
How are days to finish calculated?
Adjusted listening time is divided by your daily listening minutes and rounded up to whole days. For example, 6 hours, 40 minutes at 30 minutes per day takes 14 listening days. Breaks and missed days are not included.
Is the audiobook speed calculator free?
Yes. It works instantly without an account, email address, or audio upload. The calculation runs in your browser.
