Subtitle shifter

Captions arriving too early or late? Move every SRT cue by the same amount.

2 cues ready.

Local processing · UTF-8 SRT only · up to 200 KB · your original file is never overwritten.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste your captions or open a UTF-8 SRT file.
  2. Enter a positive offset to delay captions, or a negative offset to show them earlier.
  3. Preview the updated timecodes and download the corrected SRT.

A constant offset moves both the start and end of every cue, keeping each cue’s duration unchanged. Add 2 seconds if captions appear 2 seconds too early. Subtract 2 seconds if captions appear 2 seconds too late.

Subtitle shifter: questions answered.

Which direction should I shift subtitles?

Use a positive value to show captions later and a negative value to show them earlier. For example, +1.5 delays all cues by 1 second and 500 milliseconds.

Can I shift by milliseconds?

Yes. Enter decimal seconds: 0.250 moves captions 250 milliseconds later; −0.250 moves them 250 milliseconds earlier.

What if a subtitle moves before zero?

The tool stops and asks for a smaller negative shift. It never silently deletes or truncates a cue.

Does this fix subtitles that drift over time?

No. A constant shift fixes a consistent offset. If the gap grows throughout the video, you need a subtitle editor with time stretching or frame-rate correction. This tool accepts SRT only.
